You can enjoy this sun-kissed stretch of pristine soft white sands in a number of ways. To start off, you can hike to the beach on the Lind Point Trail that starts behind the Virgin Island’s National Park Visitor Centre. Some shops you shouldn’t miss include St. John Spices found at the Wharfside Village and Vibe Collection. The market place near the ferry dock is also a great place to shop for groceries. We’ve spent the last 3 years living in Antigua as a family and spending time in St John’s where the Antigua cruise port is located. Sara used to work on cruise ships and knows how important a port day is. Sometimes you want to max out your time getting to know the country. At other times, you just want to find the nearest best beach to relax on. This colourful-lined street starts at the end of the cruise ship dock.

Most taxi-drivers are reasonably good guides as well and, considering the size of the island, can take you to most highlights in a half-day tour. Although drivers are required to show a rate card (fares are officially fixed), make sure you agree on a fare before entering the taxi. For a half-day tour, you shouldn't be paying more US$ 120 (for the taxi with as many as 4 passengers). Antigua is a very safe cruise port for passengers, with many attractions to enjoy.

St. Martins Sea Caves – located 45 minutes from Saint John is the picturesque village of St. Martins best known for the sea caves which are accessible only twice a day when the tide is low. Walk along the ocean floor out to the caves, arches and caverns, which a few hours later will be filled with water when the tide rises. Your cruise ship will dock at Heritage Quay, which is one of two quays perpendicular to St. Johns.The exit gates to the city are less than 500-feet from the ship. Basically, it will take you just a few minutes on foot until you enter the city center. If you’re a nature lover and want to get your outdoor fix, then a great to do just that is by hiring a kayak for a few hours and exploring the island’s mangroves. She runs all sorts of classes, from curries to jerk and much more in between. However, if you’re feeling adventurous then it is possible to walk to them from Galleon Beach. We love learning about the history of Antigua, and the best place to head to is the Antigua and Barbuda Museum.
